The invention is applicable for the technical field of data processing, and provides a data processing method and device for an embedded application. The method comprises the following steps: compiling codes of a microcontroller unit (MCU) to obtain an MAP file; acquiring variable information of various variables in the MAP file, obtaining structural information of the variables according to the original codes, and obtaining a layout of a variable memory through the variable information and the structural information, wherein the variable information comprises a variable address and a variable length; and sending the layout of the variable memory and the variable information of a target variable to the MCU, and receiving data corresponding to the layout of the variable memory and the variable information of the target variable which is sent by the MCU. The method provided by the invention has the advantages that any data of any MCU can be viewed, and codes of an upper computer need not be altered, so that higher usability and practicality are achieved.
