The invention discloses an organic phosphorus flame retardant copolyamide and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of (A) subjecting organic phosphorus flame retardant monomers to reacting with diamine monomers to obtain salt; (B) adding diacids and diamines, or diamide salt, or diamide salt solution, the salt obtained from the step (A) or solution of the salt obtained from the step (A), antioxidants, catalysts and deionized water into a reactor, and in a nitrogen atmosphere, performing control of reaction temperature and pressure to obtain the organic phosphorus flame retardant copolyamide. The prepared organic phosphorus flame retardant copolyamide is small in adding amount of reactive flame retardant, free from synergetic flame retardant and controllable in viscosity during preparation; the obtained products is excellent in mechanical property and flame retarding performance and can be applied to the fields of textile, insulating materials, tyre cords, films and the like.
