The invention relates to a method for producing cyclic siloxanes of general formula (1) [RSi (OSiR1R2R3)O]n (1) by reacting alkali salts of silanols (so-called alkali siliconates) consisting of units of general formula (2) R-Si(OH)3-m(OM)m (2), by reacting hydrolysis/condensation products thereof, or by reacting alkali salts of silanols of general formula (2) together with the condensation products thereof, wherein the molar ratio of cation M to silicon is < 1, with halogen silanes of general formula (3) R1R2R3Si-Hal (3), wherein m stands for 0, 1, 2, or 3, on average a number from 0.1 to < 1, n stands for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8, R stands for an organic radical bonded by means of carbon, M stands for an alkali cation, Hal stands for a halogen radical, and R1, R2, and R3 stand independently of each other for a hydrogen radical, a halogen radical, or an organic radical bonded by means of carbon or oxygen.
