A method for updating data in a memory used for electrical compensation and a data updating apparatus, the method for updating data comprising: writing a number of a currently-updated block or a predetermined value into a nonvolatile memory when a main control chip receives a power off signal. The updating apparatus may store a number (an nth block) of a currently-updated block when powering off by means of merely adding one nonvolatile memory outside of the main control chip. When powering on again, it is determined which rows have experienced data loss according to the number of the block, and data in adjacent rows is used for replacement. Operation is simple, efficiency is high, data updating time is short, and the service life of the memory device is not affected.
