The invention discloses a test method for evaluation of a new rock performance index IDV. The test method includes steps: a, steel needle design; b, rock sample manufacturing; c, experimental operations of scratching rock with steel needles; d, rock performance index IDV measurement; e, new rock performance index predication and application. Compared with a traditional Cerchar test method, the test method for evaluation of the new rock performance index IDV has the advantage of high precision; compared with individual physical characteristic index reactions of rock compressive strength and quartz content, the test method is more comprehensive. The rock performance index obtained by intercoupling of the steel needles and rock samples can better reflect abradability of rock to tools to effectively instruct onsite construction.
