The invention discloses a large-current starting relay protection method for simple protection of a 35kV bus of a 500kV transformer substation. The method comprises the steps of adding a large-current starting 35kV simple bus protection device in backup protection of a 35kV side of the 500kV transformer substation, wherein the 35kV simple bus protection device has tripping control conditions that a 35kV distance protection acts and a large-current element starts; when the conditions are simultaneously met and after a short time delay, if a circuit breaker is arranged on the 35kV side of the 500kV transformer substation, starting the circuit breaker on the 35kV side of the 500kV transformer substation to trip; and if no circuit breaker is arranged on the 35kV side of the 500kV transformer substation, starting a main outlet loop for tripping of the 500kV transformer substation to trip the circuit breakers on every side of the 500kV transformer substation. According to the method of the invention, the adopted large-current starting 35kV simple bus protection can act correctly when a fault occurs in the 35kV bus, the removal time is shortened to 0.3-0.4s, removal of the fault of the 35kV bus is quickened, and stable operation of a power grid is facilitated.
