The invention provides a monitoring system and method for a booster station of a power plant, and the system comprises interlayer equipment, station control layer equipment, and an NCS monitoring computer. All secondary equipment employs the IEC61850 communication standard. The system can achieve the direct communication of the secondary equipment of a transformer substation, improves the automatic technological level of the transformer substation, achieves the data modeling, information digitalization, communication platform networking and information sharing standardization of the secondary equipment of the whole transformer substation, reduces a large amount of cable laying operation, solves problems that a secondary loop is too complex and a control cable is liable to be affected by electromagnetism, saves a large amount of investment in transmitters, avoids the information separation among control systems caused by the bottleneck constraint of a conventional transformer substation from information transmission, facilitates the building of the transformer substation and the expansion of an automatic system, achieves the sharing of information between an operation system and other systems, and reduces the repeated investment and construction.
