The invention provides a lophatherum gracile composition with a body-weight reducing effect and a preparation method thereof. The composition is prepared from lophatherum gracile extract, dandelion extract, flos sophorae extract, bitter apricot kernel extract, momordica grosvenori extract, poria cocos extract, coix seed extract, pericarpium citri reticulatae extract, haw extract, semen raphani extract and lotus leaf extract serving as effective ingredients and auxiliaries which are permitted to use in medicines and foods. Animal experiments indicate that the lophatherum gracile composition can be used for remarkably reducing the content of CHO, LDL and TG in serum, and reducing a certain content of fat in the body, and indicates that the composition has a body-weight reducing effect.
