The invention discloses power electronic flexible connection switch topology and a control method thereof. The power electronic flexible connection switch topology can connect two power grids with any voltage grades, and successively includes: an isolation transformer 1, a switch 1, a filter 1, a power electronic flexible connection switch, a filter 2, a switch 2, and an isolation transformer 2. The power electronic flexible connection switch is composed of a converter 1 and a converter 2. Direct current sides of the two converters are connected together to form a direct current bus. An alternating current side of the converter 1 is connected to the filter 1. An alternating current side of the converter 2 is connected to the filter 2. A direct current support capacitor is connected between positive and negative electrodes of the direct current bus. The power electronic flexible connection switch independently controls active power and reactive power, dynamically compensates the reactive power of an alternating current bus, and stabilizes the voltage of the direct current bus.
