The spring-type braking cylinder comprises a shell and a cylinder arranged in the shell, wherein a piston rod is arranged in the center of the shell. The spring-type braking cylinder is characterized in that a cavity is formed in the shell; a braking shoe is arranged on one end of the shell and is located on the periphery of the piston rod; a braking piston is arranged in the cavity; a spring is arranged between one end, which is far away from the braking shoe, of the braking piston and the cavity; one side, close to the braking shoe, of the cavity is provided with a control port; a groove is formed in the end surface, which can be in contact with the braking piston, of the braking shoe; and a bulge which can be buckled with the groove is arranged on the braking piston. When the cylinder is switched to a braking state from a free state, exhaust is performed rapidly at the control port; the spring resets and drives the braking piston to approach the braking shoe, so that braking shoe clasps the piston rod, and thus the piston rod stops moving; the sensitivity of the braking effect is improved; and a phenomenon that slipping occurs between the braking piston and the braking shoe is avoided.
