The method comprises the following steps that: the secondary equipment registers to a monitoring system, and transmits a model file and a pattern file to the monitoring system after successful registration; the monitoring system performs model splitting on the received model file of the secondary equipment, screens measuring points in the model, introduces screened measuring points into a model library, and setting service processing properties for the types of the screened measuring points; the monitoring system performs pattern resolution on the received pattern file, constructs a primary equipment model, and screens the measuring points according to the types of measuring points defined in a device pattern template to automatically generate a device sub-graph. Plug and play of the secondary equipment is realized through self-discovery, model automatic loading and pattern automatic generation of the secondary equipment. By adopting the method and the device, the situation of manual intervention when the secondary equipment of the intelligent substation accesses the monitoring system is avoided, the problems of high configuration workload, low efficiency and tendency to make mistakes are solved, and the working efficiency is increased effectively.
