A water pump is provided with: a drive shaft supported rotatably within a pump housing with a ball bearing therebetween; a pulley (4) integrally linked to one end of the drive shaft with a flange wall (4a) therebetween; an impeller linked to the other end of the drive shaft; a tubular base section (4b) integrally provided to the outer periphery of the flange wall; and six through-holes (17) formed penetrating to the outer peripheral side of the flange wall. By means of a pathway groove (17d) penetrating approximately along the inner peripheral surface (4g) of the tubular base section being formed at approximately the center position of the bottom surface (17c) of the inner peripheral surface (17a) of each through-hole, the dischargability of foreign matter such as refuse and water from the through-holes formed at the flange wall is increased.
