The invention relates to a method and system for automatically checking functions of smart ammeters. The method includes a checking scheme generation step, in which a control device generates a checking scheme according to checking requirements; a function checking step, in which a checking device checks according to the checking scheme generated by the control device and synchronously checks the items that can be checked synchronously; and a data sorting step, in which a checking device feeds the test result back to the control device and the control device stores the data and generates a checking report which is transmitted to a printer for printing. The system comprises the control device which generates checking items, sends out intervention warnings and processes data, the checking device which checks functions, and the printer for printing the checking report. Compared with the prior art, the system and method have the advantages of highly integration level, high checking speed and possibility of realizing integrated control and concentrate management.
