The invention discloses a heavy aromatics transalkylation method. The method comprises the following step: under heavy aromatics transalkylation conditions, an aromatics raw material and hydrogen-bearing gas are contacted with a heavy aromatics transalkylation catalyst. The heavy aromatics transalkylation catalyst contains a carrier and metallic elements M1 and M2 supported on the carrier, wherein the metallic element M1 is one or more elements selected from Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Os, Ir, Re, Pt and Au; and the metallic element M2 is one or more elements selected from lanthanide series. The carrier is prepared by the following step: a NaY molecular sieve is contacted with organic acid in an aqueous solvent so as to obtain a modified NaY molecular sieve, wherein the pore opening of the modified NaY molecular sieve is trumpet-shaped. By the heavy aromatics transalkylation method, conversion rate of aromatics, especially C10<+> heavy aromatics, can be raised, and high mixed xylene and C9 aromatics selectivity is also raised.
