The invention aims to provide a friction material for a drum brake of a nine-seat passenger vehicle and a preparation method of a drum brake block, wherein the friction material is simple in materials and convenient to prepare. The friction material is prepared from the following components in percentage by weight: 15-19% of an organic compound, 26% of fibers and 55-59% of a filler. The method for preparing the friction block through the material comprises the following steps of (1) mixing materials, wherein all the raw materials are weighted in the percentage by weight of the formula, and all the materials are put into a high-speed material mixer and are stirred for 2 minutes, so as to form the mixed and stirred material of the friction material; (2) performing hot pressing; (3) performing heat treatment; and (4) finally, performing splicing so as to obtain the drum brake block, wherein the splicing wind pressure is 0.4MPa, the first section of splicing temperature is 175-185 DEG C, the second section of the splicing temperature is 200-210 DEG C, the third section of the splicing temperature is 200- 210 DEG C, and the splicing time is 40-50 minutes. The friction material and the preparation method of the drum brake block disclosed by the invention are applied to the field of friction materials.
