The invention provides a grounding electrode for spanning a river/deep ditch. The grounding electrode comprises two feed rods, two current guiding towers, two current guiding cables and an overhead wire, wherein one feed rod is arranged at one current guiding tower, the other feed rod is arranged at the other current guiding tower, the overhead wire is hung between the two current guiding towers, and the feed rods are connected with the overhead wire through the current guiding cables. The grounding electrode has the advantages that the overhead wire replaces the current guiding cables to span the river or the deep ditch, the length of the current guiding cables is reduced, investment is reduced, design and construction difficulties are lowered, destruction of and influence on the river (the deep ditch) during the construction and operation of the current guiding cables are avoided, the applicable regions of grounding electrode addresses are expanded greatly, and the operation safety of the grounding electrode is increased.
