The invention provides a detection system and a method for hanging ground wires of a substation. The system comprise an RFID tag arranged on each ground wire in a ground wire storeroom, a ground wire storeroom RFID reader arranged at the position of a ground wire storeroom door, an equipment RFID reader arranged at the corresponding position of each equipment in need of being connected with the ground wire, a portable indicating terminal, and a master control server. According to the above scheme, the RFID technology and the wearable technology are combined, the far-end server is employed to detect whether each ground wire is correctly connected or dismounted, and compared with the manual detection method in the prior art, the reliability is greatly improved.
