The invention relates to a method for acquiring a network equipment forwarding state in a software defined network. The method comprises the following steps: step (1), configuring a probe packet which carries an appointed a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) label; step (2), distinguishing a normal data packet and the probe packet through a first flow table in a plurality of flow tables; and step (3), adding an extra instruction for a flow table entry of a flow table except the first flow table in the plurality of flow tables. The invention provides the method for acquiring the network equipment forwarding state in the software defined network, the true forwarding state of network equipment can be acquired simply and effectively by acquiring and carrying the identification of each flow table entry in the network equipment, meanwhile, almost no extra bandwidth is needed to bear the probe packet that carries information.
