An apparatus (100, 200, 300) for fabricating a container (101, 202, 302) comprises an injection head (102) establishing fluid communication between an injection liquid source (104) and a preform cavity (107A, 201A, 301A) of a substantially tubular preform (101A, 202A, 302A) through a nozzle (103) of said injection head (102), a longitudinal axis (109) of said injection head (102) being substantially vertically oriented and passing through said nozzle (103), characterized in that said apparatus (100, 200, 300) further comprises a plurality of infrared-emitting elements (113, 204, 304) projecting infrared radiation (115, 207, 306) into an expansion zone (110, 208, 307) which is disposed adjacent to said nozzle (103) and about said longitudinal axis (109), and configured to accommodate said preform (101A, 202A, 302A) when it is positioned in fluid communication with said nozzle (103).
