The invention discloses a method for producing a base material for planting tomatoes. The method comprises the following steps: preparing materials as follows: gravel, compost, decomposed cattle manure, a nitrogenous fertilizer, river bottom mud, shell powder, a seaweed meal and husks; A. preparing the compost: selecting chicken manure, naturally composting the chicken manure for 3 months and standby; B preparing the decomposed cattle manure: piling the cattle manure together, adding 100g of a mixture containing actinomyces and fermentative bacteria into per cubic meter of the cattle manure, uniformly turning over and throwing materials, covering a plastic cloth, and decomposing for 5-7 days for standby; C. preparing the gravel: selecting soil 15cm below a soil surface as the gravel; D. mixing and stirring the compost obtained in the step A, the decomposed cattle manure obtained in the step B and the gravel obtained in the step C, adding the nitrogenous fertilizer, the river bottom mud, the shell powder, the seaweed meal and the husks into per cubic meter of the mixture, and uniformly stirring to obtain the base material. The method is simple, and compared with the conventional booth plantation method, and the growth span from plantation to harvest is decreased by 10-13 days.
