A method for removing trace water in anisole by using CO gas relates to a method for removing trace water in anisole and comprises the following steps: adding an anisole solution containing trace water in a reactor loaded with a catalyst, introducing CO gas of 1.0-0-5.0 MPa, controlling reaction temperature at 150-350 DEG C for reaction, wherein CO and the trace water in anisole are subjected to water gas shift reaction to finally obtain anhydrous anisole solution (CO+H2O=CO2+H2), content of the anisole in raw materials is 70-99%, and CO purity is 10-99.99%. The traction is simple, only the introduced CO reacts with water in anisole, reaction products CO2, H2 and anisole liquid have two phases without the problem of product separation, other impurities are not introduced, energy consumption is small, a water removal effect is good, and water content in the anisole can be reduced to 10ppm.
