The invention belongs to the technical field of biological control of fruit-tree insect pests and discloses a semi-artificial feed for mango horizontal tail noctuid larva and a preparation method thereof. The feed comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 40-60 parts of pure water, 35-57 parts of main ingredient and 3-5 parts of auxiliary ingredient; the main ingredient is mixture of dried tender leaves, tender shoots and tender branches of mango which are mixed in a mass ratio of (2-4): (5-7) : (0.5-1.5); and the auxiliary ingredient is mixture of agar, ascorbic acid, glucose, methyl-p-hydroxybenzoate, potassium sorbate, formaldehyde, Webster's salt and complex vitamins. The feed overcomes defects of prior art that the mango horizontal tail noctuid can only be sampled in the field and can not be bred indoors. The feed has relatively reliable recipe and relatively simple breeding, so that necessary insect source support is provided for long-time and stable biological mechanism study and double-sex attractant development of the insect.
