The invention provides a copper-based silver-free contact and a preparation method thereof. The copper-based silver-free contact comprises, by weight, 65%-85% of copper, 10%-35% of nickel, 3%-9% of molybdenum, 0.5%-1.5% of silver, 0.2%-0.5% of chromium and 0.05%-0.1% of rare earth. The preparation method comprises the steps of non-ferrous metal and intermediate alloy mixing, smelting, pouring, solid solution softening, hot rolling, heat treating, machining, stamping discharging, aging treatment and finished product testing and packaging. The copper-based silver-free contact has good electrical conductivity, good heat conductivity, good electric arc erosion resistance and good welding adhesion resistance, and is low in manufacturing cost, nontoxic and free of pollution.
