The invention discloses a Stirling cycle machine and a driving mechanism for the same. The driving mechanism for the machine includes: a rocking beam held in a crank case containing lubricaotn liquid; at least one cylinder held in the working space of the machine; a heat regenerator connected to the cylinder and held in the working space; at least one piston held in the cylinder; and at least one coupling assembly having a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is connected to the piston and the distal end is connected to the rocking beam, so that the linear motion of the piston is converted to rotary motion of the rocking beam. The coupling assembly also comprises a piston rod; a link bar connected to the piston rod through a connecting device, wherein the connecting device is configured to enable any angular deviation of the piston rod and relative to the link bar to be the minimum; and a seal connected to the piston rod in a sealing manner. The seal is a rolling membrane and enables the crank case to be sealed relative to the working space, so that the lubrication liquid can be frevented from entering the working space.
