Provided are a liquid ejection apparatus and a method for producing a liquid ejection apparatus. The liquid ejection apparatus comprises: a nozzle; a first channeled structure defining a first liquid channel, the first liquid channel communicating with the nozzle; a second liquid channel; a communication opening connecting the first liquid channel and the second liquid channel; and a laminated body including a piezoelectric element and a metal layer, the laminated body having a first portion supported by the first channeled structure and a second portion extending over the first liquid channel and not supported by the first channeled structure, the communication opening extending through the second portion of the laminated body such that the second portion surrounds the communication opening, wherein the second portion of the laminated body includes the metal layer surrounding the communication opening. The method includes the steps: forming a first electrode; forming a metal layer; forming a piezoelectric layer on the first electrode; forming a second electrode, opposite to the first electrode, on the piezoelectric layer; arranging a pressure chamber communicated with a communication opening; and forming a metal layer on a non-support member extending on the pressure chamber. The surrounding of the communication opening and circumferential face portions facing the channeled structures are prevented from being damaged.
