The invention discloses a controlling method of a helical-lobe compressor used for increasing the service capacity of the helical-lobe compressor. The helical-lobe compressor is configured with a frequency changer and a sliding valve, the frequency changer is used for controlling a motor to drive a screw, and the sliding valve is used for adjusting the effective operating length of the screw. The controlling method of the helical-lobe compressor is characterized by comprising the following steps: monitoring the operating current value of a motor; improving the operating frequency of the motor and unloading the position of the sliding valve when the operating current of the motor is increased to the limit of a current limit valve, therefore the operating cavity of the helical-lobe compressor can be improved under the condition that the operating current is not increased.
