The invention discloses a GPS automatic positioning detection method and apparatus for grounding resistance. The technical scheme is that each of units can obtain the latitude and longitude of the position where each unit is in through a GPS module, information of a detection slave computer is transmitted to a detection host, the distance between any two units and included angles formed by any three units can be calculated when the detection host obtains the latitude and longitude of all the units, a calculation result and images can be displayed on a large liquid crystal screen of the detection host in real time, the length of both a voltage electrode and a current electrode as well as the included angle between the voltage electrode and the current electrode can be displayed on the large screen of the detection host when an angle offset method is adopted to measure the grounding resistance of a ground network, and a prompt can be given to enable the current electrode or the voltage electrode to move so that the included angle between the two electrodes is changed. The whole ground network of a transformer station can be measured in all directions, reliable grounding of equipment in the whole transformer station is ensured, maintenance is improved scientifically, and personal safety of workers in the transformer station is ensured.
