The invention discloses a method and a device for sending a Goose message in a ring network. The method comprises the following steps: when ordinary node equipment receives the Goose message via a ring port, identifying sequence identification information carried in the message in order to judge whether or not the message is continuous; when the message is judged to be continuous, forwarding the Goose message; if the message is judged to be discontinuous, judging whether or not the Goose message is received before; if the Goose message is determined to be received before, forwarding the message; and when the Goose message is determined to be not received before, creating a Goose message request for requesting next sequence identification information, and sending the Goose message request. Only the Goose message which is not received before is requested when the received Goose message is determined to be discontinuous according to the sequence identification information carried in the Goose message, so that the requirement of zero packet loss during continuous topological change of the network can be met. Meanwhile, the problem of Goose message loss is solved by increasing the utilization ratio of the cache of a node saved message.
