The invention discloses a new breaker heating amount calculating method. The new breaker heating amount calculating method comprises the following steps: performing modeling prediction by using an RBF neural network, training and establishing a breaker heating amount prediction model by using a working environment condition of a breaker, an equipment state of the breaker, a relay protection configuration and the like as input variables of the model and using a heating amount of a divide-shut brake coil of the breaker as an output variable of the model; and optimizing an input variable of the RBF neural network by adopting a particle swarm optimization algorithm. According to the new breaker heating amount calculating method, an input structure of a manual neural network is simplified, and the learning speed and precision of the RBF neural network are improved.
