An objective of the present invention is to use an AEC function of an electronic radiographic image detection device without modifying a ray source control device. A signal relay device comprises: a first connection interface whereto a projection switch is connected; a second connection interface whereto a projection signal interface of an electronic cassette is connected; a third connection interface whereto a switch interface of a ray source control device is connected; and a signal processing unit. The signal processing unit emits a projection execution signal during a period wherein a projection instruction signal from the projection switch and a projection permission signal from the electronic cassette are inputted. The ray source control device drives an x-ray tube and projects x-rays while the projection execution signal is inputted.
