The invention discloses an automatic identification system and an automatic identification method for an ICD (interface control document) model of an intelligent measurement and control device, and belongs to the technical field of power equipment monitoring. The automatic identification system comprises an IEC61850 client module, a virtual combining unit module, a virtual intelligent terminal module and an identification analysis module. According to the automatic identification system and the automatic identification method which are provided by the invention, a corresponding relation between MMS (multimedia messaging service) variables of the identified intelligent measurement and control device and a virtual terminal (the identified intelligent measurement and control device makes out the virtual terminal) of a process layer can be output; channels of measuring parameters and calculating parameters, such as current, voltage, active power and reactive power, which correspond to the MMS variables fill up the blank of an existing automatic identification technology for the ICD model of the intelligent measurement and control device.
