The invention discloses an identification method and an identification device for live multi-media files. The method includes the steps of: obtaining current feature information of the live multi-media file according to the real-time data flow of the input live multi-media file; positioning a multi-media record to be updated in a feature database according to the identification information of the live multi-media file; updating a feature sample in the multi-media record to be updated according to the current feature information of the live multi-media file; receiving an identification request for identifying the target multi-media file, and matching feature information of the target multi-media file included in the identification request with the feature sample in the feature database, to position the multi-media record corresponding to the target multi-media file; obtaining the identification information of the multi-media file corresponding to the target multi-media file. According to the identification method and device, live videos can be identified.
