The invention discloses a novel cargo ropeway protective screen device and a control method thereof, the device comprises a motor control system, a protective screen and a winding plant arranged below a ropeway truss, two lower corners of the protective screen are respectively fixed at the bottoms of two support rods at two sides of the ropeway truss, one upper corner is connected with the steel wire rope of the winding plant while the other upper corner is fixed at the upper part of the support rod at the same side through a suspension rope; the device further comprises the photoelectric sensors arranged on the saddle shelves at two sides. The photoelectric sensor sends the feedback signal to the motor control system while detecting a walking car, the motor control system controls the decline of the protective screen, the protective screen is lifted after that the walking car passes through. The novel cargo ropeway protective screen device can have protection function after that the rope clip has the strop ropeway accident, guarantee the safety for the cargo ropeway device and the workers, the device is low in cost, effective, safe and reliable in operation and the device has significant practical meaning.
