Provided is a thermal flow meter that enables stress in the axial direction to be mitigated, said stress acting on a lead in response to the temperature difference between the base end side and the tip end side of a measuring unit. A flow rate detection unit (300) of the present invention comprises: an auxiliary passage through which a gas being measured (30), which has been taken in from a main passage (124), flows; a circuit package (400) that is provided with a flow rate detection section (602) that measures the flow rate of the gas being measured (30) by transferring heat between the flow rate detection section (602) and the gas being measured (30), which flows through the auxiliary passage, via a heat transfer surface, and wherein the flow rate detection section (602) and a lead (514) are sealed in a first resin molding step; and a housing (302) that forms part of the auxiliary passage in a second resin molding step, and wherein the circuit package (400) is fixed. The lead (514) has an outer lead (412) that protrudes from the circuit package (400) and is fixed to the housing (302), and a curved section (416) is disposed on the outer lead (412).
