Provided are: a flame-retardant resin composition which is a halogen-free resin composition that uses a metal hydroxide as a flame retardant and which is capable of achieving excellent flame retardancy even if the blending ratio of the metal hydroxide is decreased, while exhibiting excellent printing performance; a flame-retardant heat shrinkable tube which is formed from this flame-retardant resin composition; and a flame-retardant insulated wire which has an insulating covering that is formed from this flame-retardant resin composition. A flame-retardant resin composition which contains a thermoplastic resin, a metal hydroxide, and a modified silicone wherein a functional group having a carbon-carbon double bond is bonded to an end, and which is characterized in that the content of the metal hydroxide is 85-190 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the thermoplastic resin and the content of the modified silicone is 0.05-5% by mass relative to the metal hydroxide; a flame-retardant heat shrinkable tube which is formed from this flame-retardant resin composition; and a flame-retardant insulated wire which has an insulating covering that is formed from this flame-retardant resin composition.
