The invention discloses a method for diagnosing surface icing faults of a wind power generator blade of a power system based on machine visual images. The method comprises the following steps of 1, dividing the blade of a wind power generator to obtain blade elements; 2, shooting the blade elements of the wind power generator, and removing the background; 3, carrying out secondary division on the result images of the blade elements obtained in the step 2, and extracting the features of the result images of the elements; 4, training a support vector machine for the fault diagnosis; 5, using the trained support vector machine to diagnose the types of surface faults of the blade elements of the wind power generator; 6, carrying the steps 2, 3 and 5 on all blade elements, until the diagnosis of the surface icing faults of the whole blade is completed. The method has high diagnosis precision.
