According to the current distribution testing device and method, the time of the power frequency voltage applied to the tested objects is controlled by controlling the opening time of the switches, the aim of power frequency current distribution measurement of a multi-column parallel resistance disc column of an MOV element of a series compensation device under the power frequency voltage is achieved, and powerful test data and powerful test guarantees are provided for reliable operation of the MOV element.
