The invention discloses a composite insulator tolerance test simulation method which mainly includes the steps: building a 750kV line composite insulator power frequency 1min tolerance test finite element analysis entity model; building a segmentation calculation model and determining applied voltage Un of each segment and segmentation coefficient Kn; applying corresponding segmentation tolerance test voltage Un to each segment based on the determined applied voltage Un of each segment and the determined segmentation coefficient Kn, and recording a potential and electric field distribution curve of a composite insulator under different segmentation conditions; recalculating segmentation coefficient according to the potential and electric field distribution curve of the composite insulator and performing simulating calculation for the insulator to obtain electric field distribution and potential distribution information of the insulator. The composite insulator tolerance test simulation method can overcome the defects of high operating difficulty, narrow applicable range, high cost and the like in the prior art, and accordingly has the advantages of low operating difficulty, wide applicable range and low cost.
