An electric power conditioning device is connected to an apparatus and an electrical storage device installed in a house, and has a power receiving unit, a communication unit and a calculation unit. The power receiving unit is connected to a commercial power supply and acquires total electric power consumption from the commercial power supply. The calculation unit determines whether or not the sum total value of the total electric power consumption and the electric power consumption that is estimated when the apparatus is operated is greater than a prescribed value. If the sum total value is not greater than the prescribed value, the calculation unit transmits a signal permitting the use of power to the apparatus via the communication unit. If the sum total value is greater than the prescribed value, the electric power conditioning device transmits a signal inquiring the amount of power that can be supplied to the electrical storage device via the communication unit.
