The invention provides an automatic gearbox. Clutches, brakes and a one-way coupling of the automatic gearbox are uniquely arranged so as to achieve multiple forward speed ranges and reverse driving. The automatic gearbox has an extremely compact structure and light weight. While the automatic gearbox has compactedness, the automatic gearbox can smoothly achieve multiple speed change ratios, for example, the second speed transmission ratio and the third speed transmission ratio are provided when counter-acting force of gear sets passes through the structure in the middle rotating speed range in one-way direction; the automatic gearbox can also be used for transmitting the turbine torque of a torque converter in a reverse driving state.
