This disclosure is related to an imaging element, a control method, and an imaging device that make it possible to obtain more variety of data outputs. The disclosed imaging device comprises: a pixel array for performing, by using a photoelectric conversion element, a photoelectric conversion on subject light incident on each of a plurality of pixels configured in a matrix; a selection unit for selecting the number of A/D conversion units for outputting the pixel signal of each of the pixels of the pixel array; and a control unit for controlling the selection unit and allowing the selection unit to select the number of the A/D conversion units according to a request.
