The invention discloses a preparation method of an alumina dry glue. In the preparation method, a proper amount of RPE type and/or PEP type non-ionic surfactant is added during the glue-forming process of a carbonization method; the non-ionic surfactant has a pore-enlarging function and an anti-foaming function, and enables the generated bubble to have a uniform and proper size; thus the solution can evenly contact with gas, so the generation of alumina with a large pore size, a large pore volume, and reasonable pore distribution is assisted. The preparation method has the advantages of simple technology, easy operation, and low cost. The alumina dry glue is suitable for being used as a carrier component of a catalyst; and is especially suitable for being used as a carrier component of a catalyst, which is used to catalyze hydro-demetallization of heavy oil or residual oil.
