The invention provides a shielding locating hood special for an SF6 qualitative leak detector and a detection of the shielding locating hood. The shielding locating hood comprises an arc hood body. A detection probe is fixed in the hood body and connected with the SF6 qualitative leak detector through a probe connection pipe penetrating through the arc hood body. The shielding locating hood is simple in structure, a semi-closed hood body is adopted and the problem that existing SF6 electrical equipment is large in leak detection workload and prone to interference of outside factors such as on-spot wind power, dust and water and often gives out misinformation is solved. After the arc hood body is used, repeated multiple-time detection is not needed. A gas leakage point can be rapidly located, the on-spot detection efficiency is greatly improved and the shielding locating hood is quite applicable to on-spot leak detection of all sorts of SF6 electrical equipment.
