The invention discloses a method for extracting 3-carene from turpentine, which comprises the following steps: carrying out condensation reaction on turpentine and formaldehyde or acetaldehyde or polyformaldehyde, so that beta-pinene which can not be separated from 3-carene in rectification is converted into nopol or methyl nopol which has larger boiling point difference, can be easily rectified and can be separated from 3-carene; washing the obtained reaction solution with hot water to remove unreacted formaldehyde and acetaldehyde; and finally, rectifying and separating the solution subjected to after-treatment to obtain the 3-carene product of which the purity is greater than 95%, wherein alpha-pinene and the nopol or methyl nopol can also be obtained in the rectification process. The extraction rate and purity of 3-carene prepared by the method disclosed by the invention are apparently higher than those of 3-carene prepared by the single rectification technique.
