The invention relates to a safety tangerine girdling fruit retention method. During two weeks from the beginning of an early flowering phase of tangerine to flower withering, when it does rain and no rain water exists on a tangerine tree, at the smooth position of a large branch or a trunk, a bark is girdled in a winding mode, a girdling opening is formed and wrapped tightly by a clean plastic film until a brand new complete bark layer is grown out again at the girdling opening after 70-80 days, and the film is removed. The method has no obvious effects on tangerine root growth and tree vigor and the like, can effectively reduce physiological fruit drop of fruitlets of a seedless tangerine variety and can prevent excessive fruitlets from dropping physiologically due to the fact that the growth vigor of the seedless tangerine variety is too prosperous, so that yield is improved by 29.4-199.2%. Soluble solid content in juice has no significant difference compared with that of tangerines on a tree which is not girdled. The method is simple, economical and practical and suitable for large-scale popularization.
