A joint structure for metallic pipes, configured in such a manner that the metallic pipes are joined together without a reduction in the reliability of the joint between the metallic pipes and with a minimum increase in cost. The present joint structure for metallic pipes is configured in such a manner that either a first metallic pipe (11) which consists of first metal (M1) as the main component or a second metallic pipe (12) which consists of second metal (M2) as the main component has an end section which is an expanded-diameter section (13) for connection, the expanded-diameter section (13) having an inner diameter greater than the inner diameter of an adjacent section (16) adjacent to the end section. An inter-metal chemical compound layer (15) formed by the first metal (M1) and the second metal (M2) is present at the interface between the first metal (M1) and the second metal (M2) at a position between a brazing material (14) and the one or the other metallic pipe, and the thickness of the inter-metal chemical compound layer (15) is smaller at the base end (13b)-side end section (15b) of the inter-metal chemical compound layer (15) than at the opening end (13a)-side end section (15a) thereof.
