The invention relates to lithium ion battery negative electrode material hollow tin alloy nanoparticles and a preparation method thereof. According to the preparation method, an electric current replacement reaction is adopted to prepare the lithium ion battery negative electrode material hollow tin alloy nanoparticles, and characteristics of simple preparation process, mild reaction conditions, easy control and low cost are provided, wherein the nanoparticles comprise a tin-copper alloy, a tin-nickel alloy or a tin-cobalt alloy and has a hollow structure, a particle size of the nanoparticles is 100-600 nm, a cavity diameter is 50-500 nm, and a wall thickness is 10-60 nm. According to the present invention, alloying and the hollow structure can be adopted to release a volume expansion problem due to application of tin as a lithium ion battery negative electrode material, a battery cycle performance can be improved, and wide application prospects are provided in the field of electrode materials of batteries with high capacity and long service life.
