The present invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine (2), wherein the internal combustion engine is configured to work under an air guide operation mode and a combustion fuel guide operation mode, especially a mixed lean-burn operation mode or a layered lean-burn operation mode, and comprises a pressurizing apparatus (6) with a compressor (62) used for providing fresh air under an inflation pressure. The method comprises the steps of: inspecting whether a required driving torque is changed or not under the air guide operation mode, wherein the change can cause the operation range of the compressor (62) to be unstable; and operating the internal combustion engine (2) under the fuel guide operation mode if the driving torque is required to change and the change causes the operation range of the compressor (62) to be unstable.
