A method and a device for detecting islanding conditions of a distributed generator are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of estimating a grid impedance, inducing, on the basis of the estimated grid impedance, a variation on a value of a first electrical quantity of the grid, monitoring a grid response to the variations, and determining islanding conditions on the basis of the monitored response.
