The invention discloses an electronic height limitator for a crane.The electronic height limitator comprises a photoelectric switch, a reflecting plate and a host machine, wherein the photoelectric switch is capable of continuously emitting modulating signals, the reflecting plate aims at the photoelectric switch, and the host machine is connected with the photoelectric switch; when an actual distance between the photoelectric switch and the reflecting plate reaches a detecting distance, the modulating signals emitted by the photoelectric switch are emitted back to the photoelectric switch by the reflecting plate, continuous and regular demodulating signals are output to the host machine after the photoelectric switch receives the reflecting signals, and a relay is controlled by the host machine to stop lifting a hook when the demodulating signals are received by the host machine; the photoelectric switch and the host machine are installed on an armed lever, and the reflecting plate is fixedly arranged on the hook; and an upper limit height of the crane is determined by a distance to be detected. The electronic height limitator for the crane has the advantage that the effect on the normal operation of a stroke limitator by failure of the switch caused by the impact is avoided.
